Whether you have been in business ten months or 10 years branding your business is very important. What is your brand? If your brand is effective, it should say “who you are,” and more importantly it should tell your customer who you are. What message does your brand convey? Use your brand to show your target market you are here, you are relevant and you are credible. Everyone wants to have confidence in the business they are looking to for quality products or services.

Your logo is not your brand but should help those familiar with your business to instantly recognize it. Your logo should create awareness and reinforce your company brand.

When having your logo developed, keep in mind, it needs to be versatile enough to be used in a variety of different formats and platforms of media. Everything you produce should have continuity. Be consistent with logo design usage. This will assist in creating the “instant recognition” you are looking to achieve.

You should have logo guidelines put in place so that nothing is left to interpretation when using your logo. Use your logo on anything you produce, whether it is letters to clients, envelopes, business cards, invoices, promotional items, advertisements and on your products. You should also keep in mind your color scheme. This practice will also assist in strengthening your brand.
